boNGO's newest project, this essay-writing club for Malawian secondary-school students focuses on topics from the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The club gives students an opportunity to share their personal stories in relation to the MDGs and to potentially be published in foreign media.

Achievements:

• 2 secondary schools identified and an essay club established (November 08)
• 2 facilitators trained and 38 students chosen for the club
• Two Czech magazines and one internet server identified to publish the essays
• Students from one school in USA sharing stories and pictures with the club students

Goals for 2009/2010:

• Writing, selecting and publishing the first essays. How: Students write essays on an agreed topic (e.g. early marriages); students, facilitators and boNGO Directors choosing best essays; essays to be translated by boNGO Directors and sent for publication to the publishing medias.
• Identifying more publishing partners. How: Contacting different European/American/Malawian media interested in development co-operation and/or globalization and offering them the chance to publish these essays.
